What are Trigger Point Injections?
Trigger points are concentrated areas of pain that often occur due to small “knots” formed in the muscles over time, and can be treated with the injection of different substances to reduce pain and dysfunction.  These injections are performed using a very small needle, approximately the size of an acupuncture needle, and the patients oftentimes don’t even feel the procedure.

What is the procedure for Trigger Point Therapy?
After your medical provider has completed a thorough history and physical examination, the patient may set a date and prepare for the treatment.  Since trigger points are when the muscles become knotted and the nerves are damaged in similar ways the same injections can be applied to these concentrated pain points.  We typically recommend trigger point injections 1-2 times per week for 4 weeks depending on the number of trigger points and severity of your symptoms.
